Arthur Carl Ahlert 91 of Indianapolis IN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday October 14, 2018. He was born on November 9, 1926 in Merrill Wisconsin to Carl and Freda Ahlert. Arthur was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara Hess Ahlert and his son Kenneth Lee Ahlert. Arthur is survived by his children Daniel Ahlert (Donnitta), Deborah Schwab (Larry), and Ronald Ahlert. 5 Grandchildren, Trevor Ahlert(Tamra), Emily Nuetzman (Brian), Andrea Leonard(Mark), Amanda Sanders, (Kenny) and Joseph Schwab (Alisha) and 14 Great Grandchildren.
Arthur attended Resurrection Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. He retired from the Indianapolis Power and Light Co in 1989 after 42 years as a lineman and troubleshooter.
Arthur loved music, singing and dancing. He sang in the church choir for many years and also sang karaoke every week for over twenty years. He loved to whistle. Arthur had a loving heart and enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations, especially when the grandkids and great grandkids were there.
He was A lifelong Milwaukee Braves/Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.
He will be deeply missed by his family who feel blessed to have had him in their family for so long.
Funeral Services will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church 455 East Stop 11 Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46227 on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 12:00pm prior to service. A light meal will be served at the church after the service. Burial will be held at 3:00pm at Mt Nebo Cemetery 3295 St. Rd. 252 Martinsville, IN.

We will miss Art very much. We have enjoyed sharing family moments with him and the family. We pray that the family will be comforted in knowing that our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Art’s smile would light up a room. He was a kind loving man and it was a pleasure to know him.I think it was the good care he received at home that allowed him to live as comfortably and as happily as he did for so long.

Seeing and talking with your father each week at church was always a blessing. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for his services as I was out of the country at the time and did not find out until today—Friday. I’m sure he was singing “How great though Art” as passed through those pearly gates. His smile always lit up my heart. My prayers are with you and your whole family.
